Shades of Blue

Workshop Facilitator for the Festival of Sleep

The Museum of the Home, London - September 2022

Shades of Blue is a mindful creative workshop that promotes a deep connection to nature and calls for a serene way of engaging with the environment through the practice of Cyanotype (a photographic printing process that produces rich cyan blue images without the use of a camera).

“Blue” is often associated with sadness, however, the colour also represents several other positive characteristics and emotions such as Calmness, Trust, Loyalty, Wisdom, Peace, Profound Spirituality and Introspection. This workshop aims to transform the blues of homelessness into something beautiful and creative through a reflective art process.

By promoting a calming atmosphere, this event provides a therapeutic experience that opened the possibility of healing and dealing with difficult emotions, allowing the participants to feel empowered to form bonds of support with others.

Behind the Door Campaign supports women homelessness charities. Through fundraising for better services within the sector, the campaign hopes to make homelessness facilities more welcoming, allowing those that use the services to feel safe and trust that they are valued and cared for. While homelessness is by no doubt a sad normality, through the campaign our goal is to change the experience.
